Courier Protects You From Virus and Worm Infected Mail

Plain Text Mail Viewing HTML email messages can contain embedded scripts with malicious code, or links to graphic files on the Internet that confirm that SPAM email sent to your address has been received and viewed. The safest setting for email is to view messages in Plain Text mode. Courier can be configured to view all mail in Plain Text mode by default while still allowing you to quickly and easily switch to HTML view for a particular message by clicking on the HTML tool bar button or using the Ctrl-W hot key combination.
Configurable Security Settings Courier can also customize your HTML security settings to provide some protection against these types of messages. You can:
- Disable background sounds in HTML mail
- Disable videos in HTML mail
- Disable pictures in HTML mail
- Disable Java script execution
- Disable other script execution
- Disable Active X component downloads
- Disable Active X component execution
- Disable client pull execution (disables downloading of linked files)
Encrypted Address Book The Courier Address Book is encrypted. This means that Internet worms that target the Windows Address Book cannot access your address book in order to send themselves to all of your contacts.
Monitor Attached File Types Courier maintains a list of file types that are commonly used to spread worms and other infected files. If you try to open one of these types of attachments, Courier will prompt you as a security measure to prevent the inadvertent opening of a dangerous file.

Courier Gives You Flexibility in Handling Your Email

All-In-One Mailbox File Courier's unique mailbox file structure keeps all of your mail, account information and preference settings in a single file, making it a snap to move your mailbox from one computer to another - great for moving between your desktop and laptop. This also makes it easy to access your mailbox across a LAN, a very handy feature for home and small business networks.
File Attachments You can save file attachments as part of the mailbox database, or have Courier automatically save attachments to one or various different folders on your hard drive.
Checking Mail You can have Courier check all of your accounts at the same interval, or set individual intervals for each account.
